Located on N side of Washademoak Lake, 2.26 km NW of Codys and 4.29 km WSW of Coles Island: Johnston Parish, Queens County: William Francis Ganong identified the Maliseet name for Washademoak as Wasetemoik' meaning unknown: PO 1856-1880 and 1908-1915: in 1866 Washademoak was a farming community with about 17 families: in 1871 Washademoak had a population of about 250: included the settlement of Jenkins: PO 1866-1913 with Joel Jenkins as the first postmaster: in 1871 Jenkins had a population of 100.
