Located on the Petitcodiac River, 2.26 km SE of Dieppe and 2.26 km NW of Saint-Anselme: Moncton Parish, Westmorland County: named for Samuel Charters, an English immigrant, who arrived here about 1800: PO 1895-1954 with Ethel B. Charters as first postmaster: in 1898 Chartersville was a farming community with 1 post office, 1 store and a population of 100: Chartersville was incorporated as a village in 1966 and amalgamated with the town of Dieppe in 1973.
