Located 6.45 km W of Weldon: Hillsborough Parish, Albert County: PO 1854-1915 with Isaac Dawson as the first postmaster: in 1866 Dawson Settlement was a farming settlement with approximately 30 resident families, including the families of Enoch Dawson, Isaac Dawson, Isaac N. Dawson, and Richard Dawson: in 1871 it had a population of 250: in 1898 Dawson Settlement was a flag station on the Salisbury and Hillsborough Railway with 1 post office, 2 stores, 1 sawmill, 1 church and a population of 250.
