Located 5.26 km SW of Glen Levit: Eldon Parish, Restigouche County: established in 1879 and named Dawsonvale for 3 brothers; Robert Dawson, Ralph Dawson and John Dawson who were early settlers here: renamed Dawsonville in 1885 when post office was created: PO 1885-1966 with John Dawson as the first postmaster: in 1898 Dawsonville was a farming and lumbering settlement with 1 post office, 1 church and a population of 75.
