Magaquadavic, Parish of St. George, Charlotte County, Merchant. Will dated 6 March 1831, deceased 13 March 1831, will proved 8 April 1831. Wife Elizabeth HIGGINS entire estate for life. Residue to be divided at her decease among children of my daughter Anne, wife of William ARMSTRONG, residing in Newfoundland. Charles WARD, merchant, City of Saint John, Robert THOMSON, M.D., St. George, and John McKEAN, gentleman, St. George executors. Witnesses: Albert OGDEN, John E. MESSENETT, Thomas H. CARMAN. On 29 March 1841 William ARMSTRONG, Parish of St. George, Charlotte County, N. B., petitioned the court, stating he had been appointed guardian of his infant children, John and Amelia ARMSTRONG by an order of the Court of Chancery of New Brunswick dated 13 November 1839; that the children were beneficiaries under the will of John HIGGINS; requested the executors be cited to render an inventory and accounting of the estate. The court noted that the widow Elizabeth HIGGINS died shortly after her husband's decease. Inventory "of the Goods and Chattels Houses and Furniture of the late Captain John HIGGINS," dated 26 March 1831, apparently taken by John McKEEN but neither valued nor signed, detailed a variety of "Articles of Merchandise in the Store," real estate, furniture and £515 in cash.
