Résumé City of Saint John, St. John County, Shoemaker. Intestate. Administration granted 16 June 1799 to friend John IVES, City of Saint John, Master Carpenter to His Majesty's Ordnance. Fellow bondsmen Francis WATSON and Nicholas LAKE of Saint John. The petition for administration, dated 14 October 1797, stated John IVES had been employed by the deceased during his lifetime to carry on a correspondence in his name (deceased being illiterate) with his family in England. Grant of administration noted that Mary KITCHEN of the Parish of Bishops Cleeves in the County of Gloucester and Kingdom of Great Britain, widow and relict of Thomas KITCHEN, Thomas KITCHEN, eldest son of Thomas KITCHEN deceased, William KITCHEN, Benjamin KITCHEN, Grace KITCHEN and Seth KITCHEN of the Kingdom aforesaid, children of the said Thomas KITCHEN by the said Mary KITCHEN, have renounced to take upon them the administration . . . . . and have requested John IVES to take upon himself the same. Further administration granted 18 May 1804 to John IVES Junr. of the City of Saint John, in the room of John IVES Senr. late administrator, deceased.
