Wife Rebeckah all my real estate in Sydney Ward in the City of Saint John fronting on [Britain] Street during her life while my widow. Wife Rebeckah all personal estate. Real estate to be sold after wife's decease and as soon as youngest child reaches age 21 and proceeds divided among my children. Friends Robert MARSHALL, grocer, and William PORTMORE, cartman, both of Saint John, executors. Witnesses: William SMITH, James PORTMORE, Robert ROBERTSON Junr. On 10 April 1830 the widow Rebecca SWIFT petitioned for administration of the estate, stating that William PORTMORE had renounced executorship and Robert MARSHALL failed to appear in response to a citation from the Surrogate. She offered James PORTMORE and Edward ROACH as bondsmen and Letters of Administration were so ordered. On 7 February 1857 Rebecca, wife of Thomas CHARLETON and widow of Jeremiah SWIFT renounced administration in favour of Jonathan W. SWIFT, a son.
