Located 3.93 km SSE of Anagance, on the road to Goshen: Cardwell Parish, Kings County and Elgin Parish, Albert County: named for the main portage between the Petitcodiac and Kennebecasis Rivers: included the community of Sussex Portage: PO 1853-1911: in 1871 it had a population of 150: in 1898 Sussex Portage was a farming settlement with 1 hotel and a population of 100: PO Portage Vale 1911-1912: in 1898 Portage Vale had a population of 110.
