PETIT-LALUMIÈRE, MARIE-ANGÈLE (1834-1910)
PETIT-LALUMIÈRE, MARIE-ANGÈLE, Sister Ste-Isabelle of the Congregation of Notre Dame; teacher, and superior at Newcastle, 1887-90; b. Boucherville, Lower Canada, 16 Apr 1834, d/o Michel Petit-Lalumière and Angèle Pépin; entered religious life, 1855; d. Montreal, 4 Apr 1910.
During the first twenty years of her religious life Marie-Angèle Petit-Lalumière taught in Congregation of Notre Dame schools in Quebec, Ontario, and Maine. In 1876 she was appointed superior at L'Assomption, Que., and in 1880 at Miscouche, P.E.I. She came from there to Newcastle in 1887 and stayed for three years. She subsequently served again on the Island, as well as in Quebec. For several years prior to her death she taught English at the CND school at Laprairie in that province.
