Abstract Parish of Fredericton, York County. St. John County records. Esquire. Will dated 26 May 1798, proved at Saint John 9 March 1816. Wife Deborah entire estate, trusting that in her affection, judgment and prudence my child, or children, will have the best inheritance. My dear friends and brothers Ward CHIPMAN, Charles HAZEN and Robert HAZEN to take possession of my paymaster ship books and accounts and make a settlement of the same as soon as may be. Wife Deborah HAZEN sole executrix. Witnesses: George SPROULE, Isaac HEDDEN, Thomas SPROULE. CODICIL dated at Fredericton 8 October 1807 confirming the foregoing will hereunto indented and annexed in four parts, to each of which I have affixed my hand and this date. (The will was indeed cut into four sections, each bearing testator's signature and the date) Witnesses: James FRASER, John SEGEE, William EARLE. CODICIL dated at Saint John 5 February 1816 confirms bequest of entire estate to wife Deborah and her appointment as sole executrix. Witnesses: Adino PADDOCK, H. J. DAVIES, Thomas PADDOCK.
