Abstract City of Saint John, St. John County. Will dated 20 March 1787, proved 1 November 1794. Son William one-half of my houses and lot near York Point in Saint John, lately purchased from Messrs Hazen & White & Symons, to be rented or leased until he be age 21; one-third of personal estate, except furniture; my sword, pistols, desk, bookcase and printed books, the silver caster, table and tea spoons. Son to be apprenticed to some decent trade when he reaches age 16. "And pleases God from present appearances to promise another Son or a daughter," if a son 500 acres of land subscribed for by me on the Westmorland Road and one-third of the money. If a daughter, only the one-third of the money, and the 500 acres to son William. Wife Mary one-third of money, all furniture, an annuity of £30. Wife Mary McGEORGE, John COLVILL and George McCOLL, merchants of Saint John, executors. Witnesses: William BARRY and Isaac BELL.
