Located on the Bay of Fundy at the mouth of the Big Salmon River, 8.65 km ENE of St. Martins: Saint Martins Parish, St. John County: PO 1854-1931: in 1866 Salmon River was a farming, lumbering and fishing settlement with approximately 30 resident families: in 1871 it had a population of 150: in 1898 Salmon River had 1 post office, 1 sawmill, 1 church and a population of about 60.
