Regret was expressed today when it became known that John C. WINSLOW, Esq., Postmaster of Wodstock, died at his house there this morn. Mr. Winslow was in the 69th year of his age and had been ill only about ten days. The deceased was a s/o late John F.W. WINSLOW, for many years sheriff of Carleton Co. When a young man he studied law in this city with the late David Shanks CARR and was admitted to the bar about the year 1850. From then until 1873, when he was appointed Postmaster of Woodstock, he practiced law in that place, first in partnership with the late Edwin J. JACOB and latterly with James EDGAR, which partnership continued until the date of Mr. Winslow's retirement from the legal profession. The deceased leaves a wife, three daughters and one son - J. Norman WINSLOW, barrister of Woodstock. Four brothers and one sister survive him. They are F.E. WINSLOW, manager of the Bank of Montreal, Chatham; W. Wentworth WINSLOW, Woodstock; T.B. WINSLOW, secretary of Provincial Board of Works dept.; E.B. WINSLOW, barrister of this city; and Miss WINSLOW, Upper Woodstock. The funeral will take place Friday afternoon 2 o'clock from his residence Woodstock.
