Accident on Maine Central Railway: To Conductor Chase dated St. John, N.B., Feb. 23 - Dear Sir: We the passengers on the train which left Bangor Saturday morn. for this city, and met with the deplorable accident at a point known as Boyd's mills, desire to thus testify to your heroic work at the scene of the wreck, placing as you did, your own life in great peril, to effect the rescue of those buried in the ruins. Undoubtedly to your energy and perserverance is due the saving of our lives. We one and all therefore take great pleasure in thus placing ourselves on record as eye witnesses to your bravery and heroism on the occasion in question. (signed) J.H.
