Alfred ASHFORD, a brakeman on the Fredericton branch of the C.P.R. got a telegram containing sad news. It informed him that his uncle, Andrew RUSSELL, a yard master in Winnipeg, Manitoba, was killed that morn. while at work. About a month ago he had a couple of fingers taken off by accident. It is probable that he was struck by a car, knocked down and run over. He was a native of St. John and had been in the west about ten years.
