Loss of Schr. "Star in the East", all hands on board. Intelligence that a wreck was observable on Port Nova was sent to Mainadieu on Wednesday week whereupon George RIGBY, Esq. proceeded to the spot and there discovered the above named Schooner a total wreck; and all the men on board had been drowned. Five of the dead bodies washed ashore and were brought hither on the 24th, namely, those of Capt. BRAGG and his two sons; David McLEOD and Ranna McKEENAN. The mortal remains of these five men were interred in one grave in the Wesleyan Cemetery. The scene at the grave was most solemn and suggestive of sympathy for the four widows and their orphan children. (see original) - Cape Breton News
