One of the oldest residents of Sackville passed away Thursday last in the person of Cynthia ATKINSON widow of Edwin ATKINSON. On Thursday afternoon whe was striken with paralysis and died suddenly. Mrs. Atkinson was born at Westcock (West. Co.) March 24th, 1807 and was therefore in her 86th year. She was a d/o James BARNES. She leaves surviving four sisters, viz: Mrs. Butler ESTABROOKS, Sackville; Mrs. William BEAL, Upper Sackville; Mrs. John BEAL, Shediac; and Mrs. Julia DIXON, California and two brothers, viz.: John BARNES, Amherst, N.S. and James BARNES, Sackville; also three daughters and seven sons. The daughters Cynthia ATKINSON, Lowell, Mass.; Mrs. PAULSEN, Kansas and Mrs. WHITNEY, California. The sons are Chase ATKINSON and Robert ATKINSON, Arizona; Henry ATKINSON, Boston; Alfred ATKINSON, Amesbury, Mass. and Stephen ATKINSON, Frith ATKINSON and Amos ATKINSON, all of Sackville. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon. After service in St. Paul's, the cortege proceeded to Upper Sackville where the remains were interred.
