Caverhill (York Co.) 'Body Snatching' Case - Testimony of Margaret PRESCOTT - 'I am the wife of William PRESCOTT and live in Lower Caverhill, my maiden name was Margaret ANDERSON; am daughter of the deceased. Joseph ANDERSON is my brother, saw him before father was buried, heard him send for Rev. W.H. Tippett. Asked Joseph if he was going to bury father alongside his wife. He replied 'father said no odds where his body was laid as long as the soul was all right'. Father often said he wanted to be buried alongside his wife. Had no conversation with my brother Joseph at the time. Saw father's remains buried at Pickard's graound. Was not at my mother's funeral. Do not know of my own knowledge where mother was buried. ... Attended father's second funeral on Monday. Made no objection to second funeral; thought it all right to bury father alongside of mother ... I am the oldest of the family. My brothers and I were baptized by Rev. Street, Church of England clergyman; one sister was baptized by a Methodist. Father and mother both said it was because they could not get a Presbyterian minister. Testimony of William PRESCOTT - The late John ANDERSON who was my father-in-law, to me that he was a Presbyterian, his wife a Covenanter and my intended was baptized by a church of England clergyman because there was no Presbyterian Minister at Tobique (Victoria Co.) where they lived. Deceased came to live with Joseph about Christmas. Testimonies of George CURRIE, Nashwaaksis; Wm ANDERSON, cousin of James and Joseph; Rev. KINGHORN, Nashwaak (see original)
