The friends of Edward COGSWELL, who mysteriously disappeared from his home in Sackville last week, nw fear the worst has happened. That the man perished in the river is the opinin that is generally accepted. Amherst Press: Edward Cogswell was a s/o Oliver COGSWELL of Cornwallis, N.S. and came to Sackville in 1842. From 1852 to 1858 he was engaged in business in the firm of Alison and Cogswell and in 1868 he was appointed agent of the Hon. Wm Crane estate. He formed a company, comprising of Sir Albert Smith, Senator Botsford and himself to carry on stove making in the old Dominion Foundry at Sackville. This foundry was afterwards turned into the old Dominin foundry at Sackville. He was twice married, his first wife being a d/o Hon. Wm CRANE. From this union there were four children: William COGSWELL, Arthur COGSWELL, agent of the Halifax Banking Co. at Lunenburg, Misses Susan COGSWELL and Minnie COGSWELL His second wife was Miss Dixon, sister of W.B. DIXON of the Enterprise Fundry.
