An inquest was held at Wakefield parish (Carleton Co.) 13th April before John Bedell, Esq. on body of Samuel WHIPPLE, an American citizen from Clinton, Me. in the employment of James CARR, proprietor of the saw mill of the Maduxnakik River. Deceased was engaged with Mr. CARR rolling saw logs from the top of the hill toward the mill below. Standing upon the logs and removing with a handspike the one below him, all those behind, which appeared to have rested on the one set loose and which was frozen to the ground, came down in a rush, threw the man forward in a sitting posture, drove him against a pile of logs below, betwixt some of which his head was caught, crushing the skull, killing him instantly.
