The Missing Boat: The boat which was noticed in our last as having been missing from our city since the night of the 15th inst., appears by the annexed letter, to have drifted across the Bay of Fundy. Of the four men who were in her when she started, only one (James McCANN, tailor) was on board when she reached the Nova Scotia shore. (Annapolis Royal 25th Jan. 1836, addressed to Mr. CHUBB of the N.B.C. from Peter BONNETT, Coroner): "On 20th inst. I was called to go to the Bay Shore, to hold an Inquest over a man who had come ashore in a large skiff boat: the man was frozen... He appeared to be 25 years of age, had dark brown hair rather inclined to curl, light eye brows and whiskers, blue eyes, good set of teeth and fair complexion. He had on a pair of drawers and shirt made of white home- spun flannel - a white cotton shirt not marked - a black silk handkerchief with red border and a piece of canvas for a stiffener- pair of woollen socks - pair of course leather shoes - a pair of American homespun trowsers, a black cloth vest with figured small gilt buttons, nearly new and a very good snuff-colored frock coat - no hat, no pocket handkerchief no mittens or gloves. He had in his pockets tailor thimbles and some small old second hand buttons, two or three needles were sticking in the breast of his vest...I had a plain decent coffin made for him and he was buried on the farm of Abijah PARKER at the Bay Shore."
