A violent electrical storm, accompanied by hail, passed over Burton (Sunbury Co.) about 5 o'clock yesterday and James, the 12 year old s/o James FELL of Shirley Settlement, was killed by the lightning. The storm was of unusual severity, doing much damage in its course through the parish. The unfortunate victim was at the time of the accident staying with his uncle, Thomas LYONS, and was engaged in gathering apples in the orchard. When the storm came on he took refuge in the house and almost after immediately going in the lightning struck the barn, completely wrecking the same, and then spread its course to the house, 150 feet away, which it badly shattered and set on fire and demolished the stove by which young Fell was standing, killing him instantly. When discovered he was lying in a lifeless state on the floor with the hair burned off his head. Young Fell's parents are poor. His father has been in a helpless condition for some years and Mrs. Fell had to work to support a family of four children besides her husband. The deceased was an only son.
