24 years ago, a man named James LAWSON had a portion of his feet taken off in a Saint John public hospital, but the foot had troubled him ever since. Lawson is one of the survivors of the ship "Lord Ashburton", wrecked on Grand Manan in 1857, and at the time had his feet frozen so severely as to cause the amputation. On Monday last at Grand Manan, Dr. G.B. Noyes successfully amputated the foot.
