On the voyage of the bark "Venus" of Granville, N.S. from Cardiff to New York, a distressing accident took place. One of the seamen named John WADE of Granville, N.S., about 21, fell on 16th Feb. from the main top-gallant yard of the vessel to the rail, a distance of 85 feet. When discovered he was found with one part of his body on the deck and feet over the rail. He was severely bruised and jammed about the breast and his head was severely cut. He lingered till 10 o'clock Friday when he died and at 2 he was buried. He was sensible all the while, yet unable to speak.
