Newcastle (North. Co.) Aug. 21 - A drowning has occurred in Southwest Branch of the Miramichi river. Samuel McKAY engaged to lift salmon pickets for Thomas VYE at Wilson's Point yesterday. Mr. Vye came to town and when he returned, he noticed with surprise that all the pickets had not been removed, and saw his canoe out from shore canted over. On going out to the canoe he saw the corpse of the man, whose shoulder and head were just under the water and the rest of the body in the canoe as if he had taken with a fit and in that condition drowned. McKay leaves three or four young children who are now orphans, their mother having died a few weeks ago.
