All who have been connected with the postal service in St. John will regret to learn of the death of James LEACH, from heart disease, which took place last eve. at the residence of his son-in-law, James LEWIS. Mr. Leach was the first letter carrier here and the first superintendent appointed under the free delivery system and held the position until about four years ago when he was incapacitated by rheumanism and superannuated. He was a member of St. Andrews Church. Mr. Leach, age 74, left a wife and four daughters, two of the latter being residents of Pictou, N.S. (cross reference: James LEETCH)
