The Record Foundry and Machine Co. works were established in 1855 by the late C.B. RECORD, an American born citizen who was long identified with the industrial life of Moncton. Mr. Record started in a small way, gradually extending the works and accumulating a competence. He retired from active business about 15 years ago and the works passed into the hands of the firm of Record and Boyer. They were not very successful and in 1882 the R.F. and M. Co. was formed. The general manager is Joshua PETERS, the president of the company, Alfred E. PETERS. The superintendent of the works is Wm RIPPEY who has held the position for over twenty years. The foreman fitter, John GILLIS, has also been at thew orks about 20 yaers, while the foreman of the moulding department, Geo. COOK, is an old hand. The machine shop is in charge of John P. WEIR who for a time associated with his father in the business. (see original)
