Searching parties during the past week have been unsuccessful in their hunt for John CLANCEY who left his home at Upper Corner and mysteriously disappeared. The missing man, who was old and infirm, has been traced to the bank of the Salmon River which he had to cross in order to get to Thos. Ryan's, his destination. He was seen here by a man in the employ of Andrew Aiton who advised him not to cross the stream as the ice was unsafe. The general supposition is that he drowned in the river and that the body will not be recovered until the breaking up of the ice in the spring.
