John WHALEN while at work peeling bark in the woods at Benedicts, Me., Saturday was strucke by a falling tree on the head and crushed to the earth. He displayed wonderful fortitude, walking half a mile to camp. His sufferings were intense and he died at one o'clock Sunday morn. He was 26 years of age and belonged to Miramichi (North. Co.) The body was sent to his home.
