A sad accident occurred on Wednesday last on the Intercolonial between Jacquet River and Belledune, Richard WALKER, a son of Capt. WALKER, Shediac Road, had that day taken the position of brakesman on the down train, in place of another brakesman. The deceased leaned out to hand or throw a letter to a workman and his body came in contact with a post of the tank. He was thrown under the car and dragged a considerable distance before the train was stopped, his body being considerably mangled. Walker died shortly after. Dr. Duncan, Coroner of Bathurst (Glouc. Co.) held an inquest on the remains on Wednesday when a verdict of accidental death was returned.
