Intelligence was received in Halifax, N.S. last week of the drowning at Melbourne, Australia of John GABRIEL, formerly of Halifax city. The accident which caused his death happened while he and three others were crossing a river in a boat. The deceased left here more than 20 years ago for Australia and there ammassed considerable mean in the gold fields. He returned to Halifax and remained awhile, but subsequently returned to the aurirferous land. - 'Halifax Recorder'
