Halifax, N.S. 'Herald' - A few days ago, Charles WOOD, aged 25, was arrested by the police at the instance of Mary DEAL. The young man is a mate of a Halifax vessel. About six months ago he became acquainted with Miss Deal and, as the story goes, promised to marry her. He sailed away from Halifax and apparently forgot all about his sweetheart, as during his long absence he failed to write her. On his return from sea the girl caused a warrant to be issued against Woods and he was arrested. The matter was heard before Stipendiary Motton with closed doors and the accused was remanded. This morning Woods consented to marry Miss Deal. Dr. Partridge was called and the marriage was solmenized in the police station.
