From St. Croix Herald - Murder of James CLARKE by Thomas BOYER, Tuesday afternoon at St. Stephen while engaged in a quarrell on the street near the Toll Bridge. The two worked together in Perkin's lath establishment during the summer. Witnesses: George CLARKE, brother of the deceased; Wm L. JUDKIN, James SAWYER, Aaron HANSON, Daniel RAGAN, Patrick NASH. The deceased was about 27 years old. He has for several seasons worked in the mills on this River. His father lives in Aroostock. BOYER, the prisoner, is about 21. His parents live in Carleton County. A revolver was found in his possession when arrested. (see original)
