The death is announced at River John, Pictou Co., N.S., at ripe old ages, of Donald McLEOD and David McLEOD who, with seven others, signed the pledge and organized a Temperance Society at West River in January 1828. It was the first of its kind in Nova Scotia and believed to have been the first in British America.
