The community was shocked this morn. to hear that Arthur L. CAMPBELL, s/o John CAMPBELL of the I.C.R., shot himself through the heart about 5 o'clock this morn. while in bed. At that hour the household was startled by the sound of a pistol shot, apparently in the room of the unfortunate man. His mother hastiy made her way to the room and was horrified to find her son breathing his last. A 32 calibre revolver, which had been used by the young man to end his life, lay beside the bed. All the chambers were loaded with the exception of the one just discharged. The rash act is attributed to a fit of despondency, as he had of late been complaining of feeling blue. Mr. Campbell had been working in the I.C.R. stores dept. Last eve. he called at Mr. Croasdales', near his father's residence and appeared to be in his usual frame of mind. The deceased was 24 years of age and of quiet and unassuming manners. Two brothers hold positions in the Bank of Montreal. One is a teller at the branch in St. John and the other is stationed at London, Ontario. Coroner Wortman was notiied of the sad affair and an inquest will be held at Mr. Campbell's residence at 11 o'clock this morn.
