A fearful dynamite explosion took place at Acadia Mines, N.S. Tuesday Jan. 10 from the effects of which two men, John WILLIAMS and Sampson HOPKINS have died and four others, Albert WRIGHT, Samuel BECK, Charles ECCLES and James WILLIAMS are suffering through the severe injuries received. According to curren accounts, the dynamite was being thawed in a can which was placed in a pot of warm water on a stove and was in charge of a man who was used to handling it, who had set the pot off the fire, and had tested the heat of the water by putting his hand in it shortly before the disaster occurred. The explosion took place in a small building. The building was blown into pieces.
