Barque "John McLeod", Capt. J.B. STUART. sailed from New York Feb. 14th for Shanghai and on 10th March trouble occurred on board the vessel by which two men lost their lives. Second Mate Charles ATKINSON was murdered by a Greek sailor who afterwards committed suicide. Atkinson died from his wounds at 11 o'clock a.m. Both men were buried at sea. Atkinson was a native of Wood Point (West. Co.) N.B. (see original)
