Tuesday afternoonthe funeral of W.H. BOWYER, landing surveyor of this port, took place from his residence Garden St. (St. John). The services at the house were by Revs H. Sprague and H. Pope, the latter offering up prayer and at the grave by Dr. Sprague. The pall bearers were: Henry WHITESIDE, Richard LONGMAID, Stephen E. GEROW, Wm VRADENBURGH, John SANDALL and James FLEWELLING of the Custom House, James R. RUEL, Esq., collector of the port, B. ROBINSON, Esq., ex-collector and other mourners in the procession to the rural cemetery where the remains were interred. M.N. POWERS and his son had charge of the funeral arrangements. (Rural Cemetery is today known as Fernhill Cemetery, Westmorland Road, Saint John)
