On Wednesday 17th inst., John INNES of Bartibog (North. Co.) in company with William CLARKE while coming home with a load from the Herring Fishing at Portage Island in a log canoe with sails set; a gust of wind struck the boom veering it suddenly round, thereby precipitating him into the water from which he never rose, leaving his companion to carry the sad tidings to the relatives and friends.
