Capt. Charles RILEY s/o Hiram RILEY of Sackville died in St. John Hospital Saturday morn. 29th ult. of appendicitis at the age of 24 years. He was buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery, St. John. His first trip was with Capt. ANDERSON of Baie Verte in the "Siddartha" ten years ago. At the time of his illness he was in command of the schr. "Annie Harper", sailing between St. John and American ports. He was first taken sick about four weeks ago while on a trip to Eatonville, N.S. From Eatonville he went to St. John where he left hus vessel and went to hsi home in Carleton rapidly growing worse. On Sunday morn. Sept. 23rd he was taken to the hospital where he underwent an operation for appendicitis. Though operation though successful did not save him and he died the Saturday morn. following about 2 o'clock. He was a great sufferer and death came to him as a relief. His people were with him at the time. Deceased leaves a widow, a daughter of William WATTS of this place, to whom he has been married only six months. Mr. and Mrs. Riley, parents of the deceased, Mr. and Mrs. Watts and their bereaved daughter returned to Sackville last night where the latter will in the future reside.
