During the upward trip of the "John Warring" Saturday just above mouth of Nackawick, a small boat manned by two of the crew was sent on shore to bring a couple of men who were awaiting passage. While returning, one of the passengers standing on the bow, a revolution made by the engines to keep the steam up against the strong current, caused a heavy swell to strike the boat sideways, upetting her instantly, causing the death of one of the deck hands, James COOK, belonging to Fredericton (York Co.)
