During the upward trip of the "John Warring" Saturday just above mouth of Nackawick, a small boat manned by two of the crew was sent on shore to bring a couple of men who were awaiting passage. While returning, one of the passengers standing on the bow, a revolution made by the engines to keep the steam up against the strong current, caused a heavy swell to strike the boat sideways, upetting her instantly, causing the death of one of the deck hands, James COOK, belonging to Fredericton (York Co.) The others were saved with difficulty by clinging to the boat. - Woodstock Journal
