An acident occurred at Power's brook, four miles above Grand Falls in St. Leonard's parish (Madawaska Co.). A.S. MARTIN of Grand Falls, proprietor of a barber and confectioner's shop left there Thursday afternoon to visit some friends at Van Buren, Me. It appears that he at that place met an acquaintance named Fred CYR and after having taken several drinks of liquor together, they crossed the river to the province side. When they reached the hill on the upper side of Power's brook where there is a sharp turn in the road, the horse instead of following the road, went over the embankment which is very steep and precipitated both occupants of the wagon to the ground. The result was that Martin was killed and from the appearance of marks upon his face it is supposed the horse struck him with one of his feet. An inquest is to be held.
