The Nerepis Valley (Kings Co.) is not without its history, In the year 1815, General John COFFIN explored the valley and secured a grant on condition of settlement. In the year 1819 the general sent a crew of men, headed by Wm BLAGDEN to make the first claering in the valley. Mr. Blagden is still living on the Nerepis, hale and hearty as ever. The first Sunday after their arrival, they climbed to the top of Douglas Mountain and are supposed to be the first white men that ever looked over the country from the mountain top. The first log house was built in the summer of 1819 by the late Abraham LONGLEY on the farm known as the Pidlar farm.
