Loss of "Ferry Queen"... Capt. BELYEA's statement: There was a crew of 13 men on board the steamer. "I do not know how many passengers, but I think about 13." ... "The names of the passengers whom I knew were Dr. MACKENZIE, Edward L. LYDIARD, Charlottetown, P.E.I., Martin I. WILKINS, Pictou, N.S., Henry G. PINEO, Pugwash and two Miss es DEWOLF who had been staying at Hon. Charles YOUNG's, Charlottetown" .... It is thought that ten lives are lost: Dr. MACKENZIE, Arabella DEWOLFand Alice DEWOLF daughters of late Elisha DEWOLF, Esq., Wolfville, Mrs. KAY, East River, Hugh O'HARA, cook and T. HAMMEL, Charlottetown. There was another female whose name is not known, the steward of the boat, and two others. The names of the parties who escaped are W.R. BELYEA, Capt.; Patrick TREANOR, Mate; James D TURNER, Clerk or Agent; John CHRISTIE, First Engineer, James WEBSTER, Second Engineer; William McKENNA, Seaman; William MILLS, Fireman; John DONALLY, Fireman; Hector McKINNON Peter CAMERON, East River, passenger, got on the wheel house and drifted ashore near Little Harbor. The persons who escaped on the upper deck are: Henry G. PINEO,jr., Pugwash, Martin I. WILKINS, Esq., Pictou, Edward L. LYDIARD, Charlottetown, Mr. PARKER, Musquodoboit, Mrs. MARSHALL, James WADHAN, deck hand and two boys belonging to the boat, Edward INGLIS and Edmund ___. (see original)
