The sad intelligence has been received that Chas. REID third s/o Harris REID and Jane REID of New Horton, was drowned 30th Sept. The deceased, who was second mate of barque "Scammell Bros.", fell overboard during a severe gale, while on a voyage from London to New York. He was 21 years of age and had been absent from home over 2 years.
