The 'Gleaner' states that Hugh McGILVARY belonging to Bathurst (Glouc. Co.) is supposed to have been drowned near the Lake on Little S.W. Miramichi a short time since. McGILVARY, who with another man, was employed by James UNDERHILL in making timber on the shore of the Lake started to cruise for timber Friday 16th inst. and not returning in reasonable time, Mr. U. sent men in search of him. They followed his trail to the bank of a creek emptying into the Lake but all traces of him disappeared. A party will be sent to grapple for the body as soon as the ice leaves the creek.
