A private despatch from Ottawa announces the death at that place April 13th of John CORBETT, architect, well known in P.E.I. Mr. Corbett, age 60, was a native of Ireland whence he emigrated to Memramcook (West. Co.) In 1866 he went from Memramcook to the Island and resided in Charlottetown until his appointment some 7 or 8 years ago to the position of Inspector of Light Houses for district of St. Catherine's, Ontario when he left for Ottawa where he resided up to the time of his death. An architect he supervised the construction of Bishop's Palace, St. Patrick's school, the Convent de Notre Dame, as well as private residences. He also superintended the construction of the Summerside Jail and other buildings in Prince Co. He leaves a wife, a daughter and four sons. One of the sons, Rev. John CORBETT is parish priestat Montague Cross.
