On Wednesday afternoon, on the arrival of the western train, the funeral of Ephraim WARD, late of Carleton (St. John) took place, the body having been brought from Boston where he had died. About two weeks ago the young man left in a schooner for Boston and on the passage was taken ill. When he arrived in port he was completely prostrated, cause being abscess of the bowels. On Sunday last he was removed from his uncle's residence to a hospital where he died on the following day while undergoing an operation. His mother was telegraphed for but did not arrive in time to see her son alive. The deceased was a son of John WARD and Catherine WARD of Carleton who, only a month ago, lost another son Edward WARD.
