A melancholy event took place at Carleton (St. John) at a late hour Saturday night. young woman named Catherine McDONALD, about 21 years of age, who lived with her parents on Guilford St, was the victim. There are many rumors afloat as to the cause of the deed, owing to frequent visits to the deceased by young man named Wallace EDGETT. According to her father, Alex. McDONALD she had left her home about three days ago, since which time she was acting as a domestic servant for James LOGAN in St. John. (see original)
