The friends here of Capt. Thomas GLENDENNING will be glad to hear that he is now in command of the steamer "Rescue", running to Trindad. Capt. Glendenning sailed out of St. John for quite a long time in the employ of Messrs. William Thomson & Co. He was mate of the ship "Birnam Wood", but left here and went to New York and engaged in the steamboat business. The firm he engaged with quickly advanced him to the position of master of the "Rescue", running to the West Indies. Capt. Glendenning belongs to Yarmouth, N.S. His wife, who now resides in Yarmouth, was a Miss McFADDEN of Reed's Point (St. John).
